HOST ROE

SOURDOUGH FOR BEGINNERS: 100% FRESHLY MILLED IN SILVER LAKE

This is the only culinary experience named one of the "Best Things to do In Los Angeles in 2018" by Los Angeles Magazine.
I love the flavor of 100% freshly milled, whole wheat bread, with nothing taken out and nothing but salt and water added in. I'll take you step by step through this simple baking routine I developed myself, from selecting and blending grains, milling the grains, using and feeding the starter, mixing the dough, shaping, slashing and baking (and of course, eating). This is a HANDS-ON CLASS, though we will bake a couple loaves that I prepped the day before. We will sample the bread with butter you will churn in class.

About Roe: "A former corporate executive, I abandoned the rat race and opened a DIY school to teach people to make stuff. From milling your own flour, raising your own chickens to making soap, candles and sauerkraut, I love sharing these lost arts to help people simplify their lives while getting access to healthier simpler foods."

What to expect at this event:

The dough you made in class to bake later
Some of my own wild yeast starter
